Chia Seed Recipes You Will Crave

Chia seeds have become all the rage in the world of health foods, and with good reason! Not only do Chia seeds keep you fuller for longer, aiding those who wish to reduce the amount of filling foods such as complex carbohydrates and saturated fats, they also contain high concentrations of protein, fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants, making them a generally great all round vitamin booster! But, sometimes people find themselves at a loss as to how they should incorporate them into their meals, which is why here at NetCost Market we have come up with some exciting recipes to get you inspired!

Cauliflower and Chia Medallions

This delicious protein-filled vegetarian dish is great for dinner parties or as a special treat. It is packed full of flavor, and is a perfect balance of healthy carbohydrates, fats, and protein!

You will need:

The Florets of one whole Cauliflower, 2 eggs, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, 1 cup diced onion, 6 tbsp almond meal, 4 tbsp chia seeds, 4 tbsp cornmeal, ½ cup chopped flat leave parsley, salt, and pepper (to taste).

How to make:

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees, and grease two baking trays.
  2. Boil the cauliflower florets in water for 5 minutes and then drain and place the cauliflower in cold water.
  3. Add cauliflower, mozzarella, onions, and parsley to a food processor and pulse until all is finely mixed.
  4. Pour into a bowl and add the eggs, almond meal, corn meal, chia seeds, salt, pepper and mix with your hands until a soft and well held together mixture is formed.
  5. Make small burger-shaped patties with the mixture, and place them on the baking tray before placing in the oven.
  6. Let them cook for 10 minutes before flipping and allowing another 10 minutes on the other side until golden brown!

 

Cheesy Chia Bread

Bread is such a staple food, but often it is blamed for causing unstable blood sugar levels and excess weight gain. Adding Chia seeds not only adds to the texture and flavor of bread but also helps regulate blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of diabetes and weight gain.

You will need:

8 eggs, ¾ cup water, 1 cup kefir, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, 4 cups almond flour, 1 ½ cups chia seeds, 2 cups grated raw cheese.

How to make:

  1. Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, kefir, water, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the flour, chia, and raw cheese to the mixture and mix together.
  4. Pour mixture into a well-greased loaf tin, and bake for 45 minutes, until the top is golden brown.

 

Coconut and Chia Protein Pancakes

Because of their high protein concentration, chia seeds have been incorporated into high protein alternatives to meat, particularly from keen health enthusiasts. This recipe incorporates whey protein with chia seeds, maximizing the concentration of protein for better muscle building potential and general overall health benefits!

You will need:

¼ cup white flour, 2 tbsp coconut flour, 2 tbsp vanilla flavored whey protein powder, ½ tsp baking powder, pinch sea salt, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp coconut flakes, 1 egg, 4 tbsp almond milk.

How to make:

  1. Simply combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl, next add the wet ingredients and stir until a batter is formed.
  2. Heat a pan and coat with oil.
  3. Add a ladleful of batter per pancake to the pan.
  4. Cook as you would regular pancakes, flipping halfway through until golden brown on both sides!
