Fancy Deviled Eggs

Category: ,

The deviled egg is an American classic. It’s quick, easy, and they’re always the first thing to go! The simplicity of boiling an egg, and then making a tasty filling from the yolk seems to never go out of date. Amazingly, this food – or at least a variation of it – can be traced all the way back to the Ancient Romans! Back then, they would make deviled eggs as an appetizer and serve them lightly seasoned with herbs and salt. We all love a nice deviled egg, but after years of attending family parties or other occasions, they start to get a little bit boring. Never fear! Here at NetCost Market, we’ve got some brilliant ideas to make a selection of deviled eggs that will ensure your party guests are kept on their toes!

Truffle infused eggs

Truffle oil has a rich, earthy flavor that really packs a punch – so it’s good to use it sparingly! By adding a small amount of truffle oil to the yolk mix, you can really bring a level of sophistication to your deviled eggs that will probably take your guests by surprise! Serve your truffle eggs topped with course shavings of good quality parmesan cheese, some sea salt, and a good helping, of course, cracked black pepper!

Bacon and guacamole deviled eggs

You’ll be hard pressed to find something that pairs more perfectly with an egg than bacon, so it’s pretty logical to make a bacon-based guacamole yolk mix for deviled eggs that would be perfect for a brunch with friends or family! Start by making a yolk mix with some guacamole and freshly ground black pepper. Then, grill some bacon rashers until they’re nice and crispy, chop them into bite-sized pieces, and then delicately place on top of each deviled egg. Perfect!

Salmon roe deviled eggs

It might seem a little strange to mix one type of egg with another, but this actually works! Start by de-yolking the egg, and then mix together the yolk, cream cheese, a small amount of chopped smoked salmon, salt, and pepper. Spoon the filling back into the eggs and then serve with a small spoonful of salmon row topped on each egg – this dish is ideal for fancy dinner parties or posh brunches!

Fried onion eggs

It might sound a bit basic compared with the previous ideas, but fried onions and eggs seem to be a match made in heaven! Start by making some crispy fried onions by frying sliced onions in oil until they brown – don’t let them burn but make sure they’re crispy! Then, make your classic deviled egg filling using the egg yolk, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper. Once you’ve made the filling and added it to the eggs, top each with a generous helping of crispy onions. Delicious!

Tabasco – ketchup eggs

You’re probably thinking that sounds disgusting but adding ketchup and a few dashes of Tabasco to your deviled egg yolk mix creates a great combination of flavors! The creaminess of the egg yolk off-sets the acidity of the vinegar in the two sauces, and the hot pepper in Tabasco really gives a kick and makes sure these eggs really are “deviled”!
